Jayne Thorson, PhD, is the Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs and Director of Faculty Affairs at the University of Michigan Medical School. Trained in the biological sciences, Dr. Thorson has received numerous awards for her administrative leadership and contributions to academic programs, including a University of Michigan Staff Recognition Award for Outstanding Leadership and the 2001 Sarah Goddard Power Award for contributions to the university environment for women. In addition, she was the recipient of the 1998 Women in Medicine Leadership Development Award from the Association of American Medical Colleges, and was the inaugural recipient of the Leadership For A New Century Award from the National Association for Women in Education. She is a highly acclaimed speaker and writer on professional development issues.
