Joan Sieber, PhD, is a Psychologist and Professor Emerita, California State University/Hayward. Sieber has specialized in empirical research on questions of research ethics. She is the author of eight books and numerous other publications, including software and encyclopedia entries, on ethical problem-solving in social and behavioral research. She has served on two biomedical and five social/behavioral IRBs and chaired four. Dr. Sieber is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association; she served on the American Psychological Association/American Psychological Society Joint Task force to revise Ethical Principles in the Conduct of Research with Human Participants and two terms on the American Psychological Association's Committee on Protection of Human Subjects.
