Dr. William Schlenger

Dr. William Schlenger is Director of Research Triangle Institute's Mental and Behavioral Health Research Program, and also holds adjunct faculty appointments in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University Medical Center and in the Department of Psychology at North Carolina State University. Dr. Schlenger is a psychologist with diverse background and interests in psychiatric epidemiology and mental health and substance abuse services research. Dr. Schlenger received the Robert S. Laufer Memorial Award for Outstanding Achievement in Traumatic Stress Research, from the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, in 1991. Although best known for his contributions to the literature on the epidemiology of PTSD, he has also studied the epidemiology of a variety of other disorders, and has conducted studies of a variety of treatment and other interventons.
