Frederick Newman , PhD

Professor Frederick Newman earned a PhD from the University of Massachusetts and has served as a Professor in Health Policy and Management at Florida International University since 1990. Dr. Newman was an Associate Editor for the Journal of Consulting & Clinical Psychology from 1991 through 1996 and again in 2003, where his focus was research methods. Dr. Newman has conducted mental health and substance abuse services and treatment research nationwide. He was a Fellow at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences and was elected as Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science, three divisions of the American Psychological Association, and the American Psychological Society. He has coauthored three books and over three score of journal articles and chapters in edited books. Professor Newman has received several teaching awards and special commendation for his teaching by external accreditation review groups.
