Mark Creamer, PhD

Mark Creamer, PhD is Director of the Australian Centre for Posttraumatic Mental Health (ACPMH) and Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne. The ACPMH is a Centre of Excellence established to improve the recognition, prevention and treatment of mental health problems in survivors of trauma, with particular reference to past and present members of the Defence Forces. Mark is a clinical psychologist with considerable first hand clinical experience in mental health recovery following disaster and trauma.

Mark's research focuses on several aspects of acute and chronic posttraumatic stress. He has conducted longitudinal studies following a range of traumatic events (e.g., a multiple shooting in a city office block; serious accidents) and with a variety of populations (e.g., civilians; emergency services personnel; veterans with chronic PTSD following treatment). He is currently planning a collaborative study with the Australian Defence Force to explore aspects of resilience in new recruits over the first three years of military service. He is on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Traumatic Stress and serves on the Board of Directors of the International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies.
