Bayesian Statistical Methods: What are they and how can they improve trauma research?
This talk will introduce the Bayesian paradigm of statistics from an applied biostatistical perspective. Bayesian ideas will be explained through presentation of examples from clinical and community trials, epidemiology, and health policy. Several trauma-related research projects will be used to contrast how frequentist and Bayesian methods differ in posing questions and analyzing data. No previous knowledge of Bayesian theory or methods is required only enthusiasm about examining statistics from a different perspective and learning how Bayesian methods can improve trauma research.
